Following confirmed cases of Whooping Cough at Woodlands Academy, we have suffered with severe staff shortages, unfortunately this meant we had to make the difficult decision to close the school.
We are now pleased to confirm that school will be open as normal tomorrow (Tuesday 11th February).
Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. We thank you for your co-operation and patience.
Initial symptoms of Whooping Cough usually include a persistent cough that lasts for several minutes and becomes worse at night, a whooping sound between coughs, thick mucus and vomiting.
If your child has any of the above symptoms, please seek medical advice.
Whooping Cough is infectious until 48 hours after appropriate antibiotic treatment, or 21 days from onset of untreated symptoms.
